Jarbidge Wilderness:

The Wilderness Act of 1964 designated the 65,000 acre Jarbidge Wilderness. This area contains rugged glaciated, mountainous terrain. This area has over 100 miles of hiking trails!

The Nevada Wilderness Protection Act of 1989 added seven new wilderness areas and enlarged the Jarbidge Wilderness. The Act designated 401,400 additional wilderness acres in Nevada.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.

CAMPING: Two developed campgrounds with little pressure, except on holiday weekends. Jarbidge Campground: 6 simgle-family sites. Pine Creek Campground: 7 single-family sites. Numerous other primitive camping sites are located in the canyons.

FISHING: Jarbidge River is a popular fishing location that stretches for miles. Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Bull Trout inhabit the river. State Fishing regulations apply, please consult regulations before you fish.

OFF ROAD VEHICLES: The majority of Elko County is classified as "open" to off-road vehicle use. Opportunities vary from well maintained gravel roads to hundreds of miles of primitive, back country "two-tracks". There are some Wilderness Study Areas and the areas within the Special Recreation Management Areas have a "limited" ORV (Off Road Vehicle) designation and all vehicles are required to stay on existing roads and two-track routes-in these areas NO cross country travel is permitted.
