Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

Raines

DIRECTIONS: From Hay Ranch, continue north on Nevada 278 for 13.5 miles to Raines.

"Raines was a small siding on the Eureka and Palisade and the Eureka-Nevada railroads. Built in 1874, the siding was used until the rails were pulled up in 1938. No settlement ever developed here, since no activity other than ranching ever took place. The siding's name came from E. P. Raines, who ran the Raines Ranch, where the siding was located. The ranch is no longer active, but many interesting buildings remain. Ask for the owner's permission before exploring."
