Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

Pine (Pine Station)

DIRECTIONS: From Oak, continue north on Nevada 278 for 6.5 miles to Pine.

"Pine Station, outside of Alpha, was one of the most populous stations on the Eureka and Palisade Railroad line. The population often rose to more than 100, mainly because of the work force needed to produce charcoal for the Eureka smelters. A post office was active here from May 7, 1886, until February 14, 1888. Although Pine Station had a substantial population, nothing of consequence was ever constructed. A majority of the workers were transient, and most lived in tents. Only a few built cabins. Only one business, a combination saloon and store, ever opened. By the turn of the century, Pine had just about outlived its usefulness and was relegated to a railroad siding. Today nothing noticeable remains."
