Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

Mineral

DIRECTIONS: Located 4 miles west of Mineral Hill, on Nevada 278.

"Mineral was an important stop on the Eureka and Palisade and the Eureka-Nevada railroads. It served as the dropping-off point for all freight and passengers bound for Mineral Hill. During the 1870s, a substantial settlement developed here as Mineral Hill continued to grow. The stop had the distinction of being the only regular eating station between Eureka and Palisade. The owners of the restaurant charged $1 per meal and reportedly served heaping portions. Besides the restaurant, a small saloon, many tents, and a small railroad depot also occupied the area along the tracks. When Mineral Hill began to decline in the mid-1870s, only a handful of people stayed there. Soon there were none. Today only mounds reveal where Mineral Station once stood."
