Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

Hot Springs (White Sulphur Springs)

DIRECTIONS: From Bruffey Ranch, backtrack and head north for 2 miles to Hot Springs.

"Hot Springs was a short-lived luxury spot that existed while nearby Mineral Hill was successful. The springs were bought by a Dr. Davenport in March 1871. The water was very high in mineral content and reputedly did wonders to diminish the suffering caused by assorted diseases. Davenport built a large bathhouse at the springs and renamed them White Sulphur Springs. He advertised heavily in the Eureka Sentinel and apparently did a fairly brisk business. Once Mineral Hill began to fade, however, business slowed. As near as one can tell, Davenport closed up shop in the mid-1870s, and no other interest emerged in the area. Today absolutely nothing remains of the wooden bathhouse, but the hot springs are still going strong."
