Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

Grubb's Well (Camp Station)

DIRECTIONS: From Bar, head south for 11 miles. Exit right onto old Pony Express road (very poor) and follow for 6.5 miles to Grubb's Well.

"Grubb's Well was a short-lived Pony Express station, established in August 1861. A small ranch was active here at the time and was pressed into service during the summer. However, the time and scope of its activity was quite limited. Later, after the failure of the Pony Express, Camp Station was renamed Grubb's Well and was used by the Overland Stage until 1869. Today a lot of dilapidated buildings remain at Grubb's Well, but all were built around the turn of the century. None could have served as the station. The buildings were used as a ranch until the Great Depression of the 1930s, when the property was abandoned for good."
