Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

Gerald

DIRECTIONS: No roads go near this site now. Located 3 miles southwest of Palisade, alongside railroad tracks.

"Gerald was a stop on the Central Pacific and the Western Pacific railroads. A small camp formed here during the mid-1880s. Many miners who worked in the nearby Safford District lived here. A post office opened on July 24, 1882, with Edwin Clay as postmaster. The office remained in operation until April 30, 1887. Only some wooden rubble now marks the site, and the long walk to Gerald is not worth the effort."
