Taylors (Taylor Canyon) named in honor of Taylor Postlethwaite, was a stage stop in the Van Dreillen stage. A bed and two meals there cost $2.50. During the Cornucopia boom of the early 1870's, a new stage line joined the Tuscarora Stage Line at Taylors. The Decrees Mill, which was built in 1875 and which treated ore from the the Tuscarora mines, was located at Taylors.
W.J. Upton bought the mill in August 1880 for $975, at a sheriff's sale, but the mill saw little use. in 1898 the Dexter Mining Company of Tuscarora built a power plant that used water from Niagara Creek. The plant generated 10,000 volts sent via a wire strung to the Dexter Mill. The company dismantled the old Decrees Mill and used the wood to build a boarding and bunk house next to the power plant. A more efficient facility built later at Jack Creek, where the water supply was more reliable, eventually replaced the plant. A number of ranches are located at the mouth of the canyon. Ranch owners have included Ben and Trembath, Rube Kilfoyle, Bing Cosby, and Willis Packerl. Today a bar and cabins cater to locals and sportsmen. The remains of the Decrees Mill are located to the east of the cabins.
