Please remember to exercise caution when exploring Nevada's Ghost Towns & Mining Camps. Open shafts, drifts going into mountainsides, and old buildings, are all DANGEROUS. Be aware of your surroundings, and let someone know where you are, especially if your plans change.

MIDAS

Located on Nevada State Route 798 between Golconda (44 mi.) and Tuscarora (42 mi.)

Midas is located just off of Nevada State Route 798 about half way between Golconda and Tuscarora. Midas was first called Gold Circle but the name was changed when the Post Office opened in 1907. At it's peak, Midas had between 1,500 and 2,000 people and was reported in the newspapers as one of the best gold discoveries ever. Midas has been a boom to bust to boom town. Only a few year round residents are left but it is a very nice place to visit with many old buildings still standing.
