ROLLER 100"
SPEEDWAY RALLY
A fabulous weekend of "Triple Digit"
racing including a 66-lap rally on the
LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY TRI-OVAL!
In our quest to "push the envelope"
of quality events to offer our members, we are announcing a first-ever
ROAD RALLY event on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway 1.5 mile Tri-Oval!
That's RIGHT! On August 29-31, 2003,
you can take your Open Road Rally car onto the high-banked BIG
TRI-OVAL for a 66-lap, 100-mile Speedway Rally. Classes will be
in Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Sport, Super Sport, and Open
Divisions. The rally will be split up into two 33-lap (50 mile)
segments on 2 different days, with one segment UNDER THE LIGHTS,
and both Driver and Co-Driver can take a turn at the wheel!
How will it work? There will be six
classes in five Divisions, with speeds adjusted for the Tri-Oval
track: The 95 mph and 100 mph class (Touring), the 110 mph class
(Grand Touring), the 120 mph and 125 mph classes (both Grand Sport),
a 130 mph class (Super Sport), and the Open Division for cars
averaging over 130 mph. Just as in Open Road Rallying, the goal
is to hit your target speed EXACTLY after 66 laps! Cars will ONLY
be on the track with other cars in their class (15-18 cars maximum),
and will be started at irregular intervals to prevent bunching.
Transponders will be used in the cars to keep track of the timing,
and passing will be allowed on the straightaways. Current MKM
Rules and Tech Speeds for the DIVISION will apply to the classes
above. For example, to run in the 110 mph class for THIS event,
you must meet the Grand Touring requirements of harnesses, tires,
etc.
AND IF THAT WEREN'T ENOUGH: This event
is being hosted by the National Auto Sport Association (NASA),
with a 3 full days of track racing activities on the BIG ROAD
COURSE inside (and including parts of) the Tri-Oval. You can enter
both the High Roller 100 and the NASA Road Race events on the
SAME WEEKEND! Package pricing deals will be offered to those running
in both events. Air-conditioned garages will be available for
rental. And, there WILL be NIGHT RACING and practice under the
lights!
And, here's another great deal: EVERYONE
will get a free mandatory track orientation and extra track time
on Friday and Saturday before the event. There will also be an
optional NASA High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) Instructional
session, tailored specifically for Open Road Rally high-speed
driving, including FOUR 20-minute track sessions, to teach you
valuable techniques of high-speed car control to make you safer
on the track AND on our other Open Road Rallies.
