Recreation
Winter
time opens up a whole new batch of outdoor recreation. Snowmobiling
is a great pastime. When Wild Horse Reservoir freezes over, ice
fisherman and snow mobilers share the space. The many hills and
winter covered roads make for some fantastic trails. To date there
are no trails marked specifically but plans are in the works.
Cross
country and Telemark Skiing are also popular in this area.
When
spring arrives, you can always find folks doing a little rock
hounding or gold panning. The Gold Creek area has been known to
"show some color" for the gold panner.
Rock
climbing around the area can prove to be fun for the entire family.
Rocky outcrops are abundant throughout the area. The view from
the top is worth the climb.
The
Owyhee River runs along town. Walk across the "Bridge to
Nowhere" and cast your line in for some great fishing. Originally
built to get ore across the river, the "Bridge to Nowhere"
now just goes to No-where. Be sure to check out our upcoming events
on the "Bridge to Nowhere".
