*NOTE: According
to the Nevada Department of Wildlife, as of 3/29/01,Seasons have not yet been established
for 2001. We will post them as soon as they are released.
We have
all watched bird hunting programs on television. The impression
we often get is that it is quite easy! There is Kurt Gowdy and
some football player buddy or movie star, walking the flatlands
of Nebraska, popping Pheasant after Pheasant while the faithful
dog "Buck" collects them and their feet.
We have
no problem with this, however, we are here to tell you that when
you hunt birds in Nevada, you better be ready to work!
Nevada offers
a wide variety of Upland Game Birds. This site is for information
purposes only, be sure to ALWAYS check the regulations and laws
before attempting this or any other Adventure. We will post new
information as it becomes available.
SMALL
GAME AND UPLAND GAME BIRD LAWS & REGULATIONS
Upland Game
Birds include the Sage, Forest Blue and Ruffed Grouse; Chukar
and Hungarian Partridge; California, Grambel's, Scale and Mountain
Quail; Mourning Doves (try to hit one of these dudes!); and even
Pheasant and Wild Turkey.
If you've
chased chukar up a rocky outcrop at an elevation of 7500 feet,
you know how a linebacker for the old St. Louis Cardinals felt
chasing Walter Payton! These birds can move.
The variety
of Upland Game found in Nevada is as diverse as the hunting conditions
you will find here. You are liable to find them anywhere or nowhere.
Pre-scouting and talking with the locals and advertiser on NevadAdventureS
is your best bet.
The information
that we offer you, our fellow Adventurers, is from the NEW
2000Small Game and Upland Game Laws and
Regulations. Remember that included in the Upland Game Bird
Season Regulations is Rabbit Season Regulations and Mourning Dove
which is actually a Migratory Bird. We will include this information
as well.
